So my new Fig 8 is GOBBLING up freeze-dried bloodworms and freeze-dried baby shrimp....but I'd like to get him more on a "staple " diet.....I'm not sure but I thought I had heard that freeze dried food is more of a "junk" food than frozen or live.

He spits out frozen/thawed bloodworms, krill, and clam...arghh!! How can you switch a fish over? Just mix old food with new food? Or do I just need to keep looking for stuff he likes heh heh......

all mine eats is frozen bloodworms, freeze dried bloodworms, and live ghost shrimp.

You could try soaking in garlic it might attract them to the other foods.

chop up bits of cockle, thread it and then dangle it in the water and make him chase it. bloodworms are ok foods now and again, but don't forget he'll need hard-shelled stuff like snails to munch on and stop his teeth from over-growing. If the snails are too large, smash them and drop them in his line of sight, he may think it's alive, chase and eat it - whilst munching thru shell at the same time.

It may require cunning - but he'll love you for it.

As above, and you could also try some small river shrimp, if he doesn't like the taste you've still got a 'clean up crew' to deal with any mess left over from the freeze dried stuff.
