Dwarf Puffer - Internal Parasites

Hi all - I've got a dwarf puffer and over on the DP boards I've had quite a few people confirm it's likely IP.

I'm unable to get the medication fast enough to treat for this, and he's NOT eating, here's a few pictures:

My concerns are:

- Without being able to get Levamisole and with him being completely unwilling to eat, is there any chance to save him?
- Would this be contagious to other fish in the tank? I've seen the question, but no answer to this point. If he doesn't make it, we may not do puffers in this tank again, it's been too hard and heartbreaking to see them go through this slow, painful death.
- What do I need to do to the tank in order to clear out any "bad" things - if it is contagious

I honestly want him to make it, but at this stage that seems highly unlikely, I'm wondering if other alternatives would be appropriate, I hate putting fish down, so very, very much.

Thanks all,

Nick

Hi Nick.

No hope of saving him without treatment, sorry to say.

Yes, its contageous to anything else in the tank.

Sterilize the tank and anything you plan to reuse with a bleach solution. If it can't be bleached, replace it.

Why can't you try to get some meds?

Its not eating anything, Dinsdale. And sadly, it has passed.
