So I have been treating my Large Stars and Stripes Puffer in his 125 for two weeks now with no substrate and just a pvc pipe for him to hide in. He had alot of ich present on his fins which all went away very fast after the third or fourth day of having the salinity at 1.009. Now , around a week later of being completely clear he has a few more spots , mainly near the very edges of his fins. I was just wondering if this is normal during hyposalinity treatment? I understand there are 3 stages to ich which makes me think they are just eggs that hatched and attached to him. Hopefully the eggs they laid wont be able to live in the low salinity? Any input on this would be appreciated.

Well I can say you are correct about the fact that eggs hatch later. Thats one of the reasons that frequent vacuuming helps, as the eggs fall to the ground.
As far as the salinity goes, I can't help you there. I don't know enough about it.

Yes, one of the most important parts will be vacuuming the bottom of the tank.

You'll need to maintain the hypo for 4 weeks after all signs of ich have disappeared.

You are right on track - make sure to maintain the salinity at 1.009 - keep up with top off/evaporation.

Monitor water parameters closely as pH tends to drop and stress can aggravate general health/well being.

I just made it through ich with my S&S.

I actually treated him with a light formalin dip every 2-3 days and did a 100% water change. He is doing great it didnt even stress him out enough to make him puff.

Thanks for the responses everybody, I will be sure to do plenty of vacumming on the bottom although there is not any substrate. His ich is all gone now hopefully it will stay like that. I am going to keep him in treatment for another week atleast (which would make it around 4 total).
