I bought a small puffer fish that was labeled as a fahaka. But I'm not too sure if it's really a tetraodon lineatus. It's still very small (bit more than 1 inch). Is it normal that it doesn't have any stripes yet? I tried to grab a few pics, but my camera really really really sucks.

Very small Fahakas are blotchy, not striped at all. I think that you may have the fish you wanted, as the form and markings look about right to me as well as I can see it.

They are pretty fast growing, it won't be long.

Check out the pics in the PufferPedia, I think there is at least on of a younster in transition with remains of blothes and beginnings of lines'

He's tiny, in a years time I dont think you'll have any trouble spotting him in that tank though. What are the dimensions of your 160g tank?

With that room to swim, he/she will be big and sleek quite soon.

The tank is +- 3' x 20" x 27"
So not ideal in the long term, but it should do for quite a while I guess.

That's more like it your first dimensions seemed to make out it was a 3ft tank in length, now I see it's a 6ft long tank. I personally would have liked it a little wider as he might struggle with turning space if he does reach 18" but until then that's plenty of room for you to try and find him in. Got any full tank shots yellow?
