I think i have read every post on this forum about SAP's. I want more(info).

Specifically about its biotope, but any info/books would be great.I googled it but not much info, muc less than whats available on this site. Super interested in these little guys(ever since i started thinking about upgrading in the future).

They are Amazon main channel and out into the flooded areas in the rainy season. So a range of 'scapes is available. The channel edges will be nearly barren other than driftwood tangles, the flooded areas will have plants. In captivity they do seem more comfortable to me in moderately to heavily planted tanks, but with major relatively high current distance swimming space (at the front for visibility). Also IME, it is not possible to overhouse these fish - the bigger/longer the tank, the better.

yea, i am saving now, as my new goal is to setup roughly a 125g tank for a small group of these guys(5?) and a nice group of otos(also amazon basin).

I'd like to set the tank up as close to natural as possible, planted ofcourse.

Is there any native mosses found in the amazon(within range the puffers are found?) Outside of amazon swords, what else is available?

I'd like to do a flooded region, with current, but with lower lighting and a somewhat murky feel that the amazon is known for(that coffee colored water).

I realized i wanted to go this big bcause i am just addicted to the 10g i just setup, and after a year of keeping a10g, i might as well go big since (outside of water changes) larger tanks are easier to maintain water wise. That, and the price isn't a huge jump from say investing in a 30-40g setup that i was thinking about.
