what would be a good recomendation for tank mates for 2 gsp's in full marine.. and are they reef safe... are anemonies and corals ok for them? i was thinking about breaking down the puffer tank and dropping them in the reef tank.. i have severeal small shrimp and snails with them now and they dont bother any one.. i also just added a violet goby due to the fact my wonderful wonderful petsmart(buttocks holes) sold me one. first time i saw one there had to buy it.. the thing is about 6 inches long and as fat as my thumb.. was a hole whooping 5.49 so it was a deal.. they told me he was in brackish at .018 and right hand to god, when i got home before i started to acclimate him i said to myself. self... you should dump some of the bag water in the hydrometer.. so thats just what i did... and the needle didnt move.. still didnt move and finally.......... didnt move.... wow i said... unreal.. so over a few days i dripped him to the brackish enviornment then to the .020 my gsps have reached.. by the way for all you that contributed to my questions.. ever since the SG went up they have been very happy and very healthy!! so thanks for all your help... they seem to be 2 very gentle puffers thats why i want to see them in the big big tank. with all the live rock and hiding places they deserve... and there damn pretty too.. so any insight on droppin them in the reef would be greatly appreciated.. i just no with there skin and temperment that it may or may not be a good idea so i am turnig to the pros here!!!

No puffers are reef safe.... especially GSPs. They will nip at your corals, eat your shrimp, and lay waste to other invertebrates.

That said, I move "offcuttings" from my nano into the GSP tank, as I regularly run out of space. Hardy corralimorphs (mushrooms) make it just fine... other softies can "hang in there" - sarcophyton, capnella, may be OK.

But I would *not* do this if you do not have anothre tank to move them to if the worst happens.

With the reefs being decimated, it is important that we treat captive corals responsibly IMO.

i couldnt agree more.. and i cant speak for the corals but to date my gsp's live with small hermits and lots of snails and very tiny spotted pearl shrimp and rudoulph shrimp and so far i only saw one shrimp get digested... those guys make a good cleanup crew. infact my tank is spotless except when i stir the sand but my gsp's are so nice and none invasive to others... i wish i could put them in the reef.. but hey... when your right your right.... so i guess they live alone in there tank forever.. im actually think i am going to move them to the office casue the wife wants one of the tanks gone and the reef is going no where.. plus they can keep me companywhen i am at work.... thanks for the insight and i will post pics of both tanks for you guys.. thanks and see ya!@

for those of you with gsp's in full marine what if any tankmates have you had successe with?

Tomato clownfish (not the Nemo kind) & damselfish. It's in the GSP article in our Library.

I had Damsels and Clown fish with my GSP and they got along just fine.

I even had a Chromis with my GSP.

my brother is exiling a damsel i am going to take him in and see how they do and here are the pics for ya!
