The diet is spectrum pellets and that is all I feed him.Krill and shrimp once and a whil.It is a dogface puffer and it is about 5 inches long.

Your puffer might not last long on that diet. Check out the article on feeding in the library.

Why's it in a bucket?

How often are you feeding? I'd skip feeding it for a week & then feed 2x/week, till it's more shapely.

He is in the bucket because I moved him to a bigger tank today. The spectrum pellets are a food you are suppose to feed exclusively.I am not worried about the food.Just seeing if I was feeding him to much.

Thos pellets are not the best food you can feed your puffer. As you can see, it must be quite fatty.

He will need to eat some crustacean or shelled fish to keep the beak trimmed. I say you need more variety in his diet.

Strangely enough, the new life spectrum is the only pelleted/prepared food my puffers will eat. And yes, they were all very fat too, even though I didn't feed it excusively.
I'd agree, that puffer is way too fat. How often do you feed it?

I do feed him other stuff I also have coral skelotons, his teeth are fine.I ussually feed him a few pellets in the morn and a few at night . I have recently cut back to every other day. I do feed him prawns and krill, but mostly pellets. The guys who run the only fish store I will buy fish from started carrying these pellets and ever since the fish they have been bringing are doing so good. Very few deaths in new shippments. All his display fish (mostly different tang's) go crazy for this stuff. Like Myaj said this is almost the only food my dogface will eat.My mappa puffer wont touch them. My dogface had some serious problems when I bought him, like gasping and ich. Ever since I have had these pellets he has not got the ich back. I did not treat him either. I will be treating the whole tank with cupramine as I will not be adding any more fish into this tank, so there should be no more reasons for ich.I will cut back the feedings for sure. I also thought a puffer was suposed to look like a football. Now I know he is a little chubby so I will cut back. Thanks for the feed back. This seems like a really good forum.
