The Puffer Forum

Hi guys

I am not new to the hobby, I have kept some south american catfish
for a while (corys and plecs) and they are my favorites.
But my friend who imports from SA once had a shipment of various livestock and one of them is C. asellus.
Once I saw them I was hooked.
I bought three of these cute puffers (1" in size) and right now
they're in my pleco tank.

I'm planning to add some FW puffer species but they're very rare
in LFS here (BTW i'm from the Philippines). It's a shame that
most puffers come from Asia.

Anyways I'm glad to be part of this forum and i'm looking forward to learn more about these creatures.

Welcome! I have a SAP and love the little guy, he's so active. Make sure you read up on them, they need a decent amount of room due to their activity and you'll probably need to trim their teeth at some point, SAP's are notorious for that.

What other freshwater puffers were you thinking of adding? Generally they don't mix well with other species... I have my one in with three dwarf puffers, but not sure how it will work out in the long run. The SAP is starting to get a bit agressive at feeding times and hogging all the food.

Agree w/Myaj - feeding conflicts are just as stressful as territorial ones, just not likely so quickly fatal.
