The Puffer Forum

Well yesterday Justin the palembang ate some a couple of snails. He slurped them right out of the shell. I thought I'd try again today, so I gave him a couple more little snails. He crunched up the first one and slurped the other two. Then I took a shell-on shrimp to feed to Phil and Lil. Phil attacked it immediately as soon as I stuck it in the tank (on the end of tongs, of course). Lil seemed to be more interested in getting petted. I kept wiggling it at her and she would back away, then come closer to my fingers. So I thought I'd try Justin again. I lowered it into his tank and wiggled it right in his face, almost stuffing it up his nose. He attacked it and started munching on it! His first shrimpie! He took several bites before either losing interest or getting full, so I offered the rest to Lil, who immediately munched up the rest.

Yay!!

Look at his tummy! How can you not love that face?

I'm totally jealous of that puffer. She's as cute as a button!

I know, I really lucked out. I'm sooo glad hubby agreed to let me have him. He's really become quite personable and rather social - for a lurker. Stays mostly under the decor but follows me around the tank.

Guess he just wasn't hungry before.

Well his belly looks full. How long are you gonna leave it before you try him with another feeding?

Not sure exactly when I'm going to try feeding him again. Probably not until Saturday, but I'll just watch his tummy and see how long it takes him to process what's in there. I think at his size (about 4"), twice a week feedings are good.
