Help! I dont want to hurt my little puffers

this might be a totally stupid question but i'm gonna ask anyway. when doing weekly water changes for gsp's, do i leave them in the tank while vaccuming the top of their sand?

Be sure to stir up the sand before you vacuum too.

If you have some easily removeable decor in there, it would be worth carefully removing it (slowly as to not spook the GSP's) first then give the sand a good stir, wait for 10 minutes or so and just syphon all the waste off the top.
