Hello, how is everyone? I am new to the Puffer scene and have come to seek advice/help/suggestions from the puffer gurus

Instead of creating many threads I will just keep this one and update it along with questions or progress notes.

Here is the deal:
My Tank Setup
38 Gallon All Glass Aquarium, Emperor280 HOB filter (is this enough?), All Glass Aquarium 200W Heater (keeps temp at 80F), and regular black gravel substrate. My water parameters are good and my PH is stable at 8.3ish. Here are some pics when I first set it up





I have added more silk plants since then. Since I will be heading towards Full Saltwater, I will probably end up changing the decor, which will leave me with all this extra decor so I can start a next setup

The Story

I picked up a 1.5" GSP yesterday from the LFS and of course they had them in FW. I am waiting to pick up a hydrometer so when I get it I will be able to increase the SG by 0.002 through my weekly water changes. So far "Lomack" (as I call him) is still getting use to the surroundings. I have fed him Frozen Bloodworms which were thawed with tank water, and also Freeze Dried Krill which was also soaked in tank water aas wellplan on getting a Vitamin solution for the pre-soak. I also have snails and ghost shrimp in the tank. I have read the articles and threads on this site they also have been a great help in getting familiar with the species.

Well that is pretty much it for now.

Nice looking setup, and it sounds like you have a good plan.

pics will come soon, I went to take pics earlier but my batteries died so I gotta charge them up.

I also went to my local Big Al's to see if I could get some snails and they aren't allowed to. Their manager says, "if we spend time getting you free snails we could be losing business because time is money." What a jerk, but I talked a guy into getting me some I guess time to set up my little breeding tank.

I also picked up 2 DPs yesterday and have them in a 8 gallon tank, I couldn't resist they are just too cute...lol

I decided to hold out on my snail breeding for now...just until I get everything running smoothly. I Also need more table space and now another little tank since my DPs took my last one.

ok so my GSP doesn't like snails sitting in the tank for more then 15 minutes, he pigged out on them and I had to skip a day of feeding. All my ghost shrimp are pretty much gone, I can only find one.

I went to the LPS and picked up a 3.5 gallon with a sponge filter to set up my snail breeding tank. I just gotta mod the filter and cut out a lid from plexi or something.

Has anyone had experience with hatching brine shrimp eggs that come in packages? They are 30 gram eggs/salt packages and can hatch 250,000 nauplii. They seem easy enough to hatch.

and I also got an refractometer off ebay, should be here early next week. this weeks water change will be as usual.
