Ok, so that mixing of Male and Female Betta... Yea, it caught up to me... I came home tp 2 torn up bettas, mainly fins, and yea, obviously, I ... seperated them... (I've had Male for years and female is new... I had no other avaliable tanks... Friggin girl... ) But anyhow... will he heal naturally? He's fine really, jsut doen't look so pretty... But eats fine, swims fine, and I think he's happy to have his own tank again... But anyhow, you think he'll be ok? Should I add Melafix or will this help?

Ok, so.. Until someone tells me not to? I'm just gonna pick up some Melafix until someone tells me not to?

That's what I do whenever any of mine get damaged fins. Just as a preventative. Or you can add some salt to the water. Either one works well to prevent fin rot IME.

Bettas are best kept seperate until ready for spawning. Then they spawn & are seperated again.

So some salt will be fine?

And Melafix will help fins heal quickly.

Thanks! I just transfered him from my room, which is empty a lot, to a fish bowl in the kitchen (about 1 gallon or so, maybe a bit more) where there is ALWAYS something going on. And honest, he comes out a lot!

But anyhow, I put in a tiny palm full, about a capful's worth of aquarium salt, into his little bowl... I really like the little guy, hes been with me a while. But I think he'll be fine... His fins are pretty ripped up, but he's still go some left and his body appears to be fine... not hardly any bite marks, maybe a trace here or there. But overall, I think he'll pull through. Still swims, eats, sleeps, etc.

New question. Can fish sleep with a bit of light on? He sits next to the stove now where sometimes a dim light is on. He's got a plant he rests on, his fav from his 10 gallon, and he still rests on it, but I know when I move out, he'll still have that light on sometimes. Will he be ok at night with that?

O, sorry about the confusion. But I do BW so I kinda figured it'd be a good idea. Don wan the little guy to get a face fulla salt concentration!

Yup, that'd cause a whole new problem.

Someone on another forum got a betta that had some kind of growth on its fins. Because no one responded to his post fast enough, he went ahead and cut its fins off.

God, where do people ever get ideas like that?!
