GSP and fig 8

Would a 55 gallon be big enough for 1 GSP and 2 fig 8

Size-wise, it would be cutting it close (GSP 30g each, f8 10-15g each), but tank size is really the least of your concerns.
First, GSPs grow to a much larger size (~6") than F8s (~3") and become much more aggressive as they age.
Second, GSPs do best in high brackish (1.018+ SG) and marine conditions as adults, where as F8s stay in low end brackish (1.005 SG).
In the end, they are not compatible in the long run.

Like Phaedrus says, they're incompatible. 1 GSP or 3 F8's would be suitable for your tank.

I'd personally recommend the F8's. I've got 3 of the little buggars in my 45 and love em to death. They have so much personality and are a lotta fun.

I second that- F8s are a blast and don't require all of the expense of a SW set-up.

And they have seriously a personality like none other. Mine follow my finger and stare at me when I approach the tank. Heres a pic, as you can see, one comes right to even my TOE!

Also, here's a video I posted somewhere else and can't find, so here it is again. They follow my hand, wait at top for food. Every time your remotely near, they come outta hiding or wandering to say Hi!

I'm curious... where did you find the plastic roots from? I've been wanting a few of those for an upcoming brackish/Mudskipper tank...

When I was in petsmart the other day I noticed they had some new ones that I've never seen before. They must be pretty popular. I'm a big fan myself.
