dwarf behavior

when the lights are on my puffers dont do much except just chill, but when i turn my light off(during the day) they school right away and are way more active and move around the tank way more... whats going on here?

I'm no expert, but I'll take a shot. maybe the light is too bright and they have to few hiding spaces?, if they are new maybe they are just getting used to their tanks, and from my experience fish can feel safer in the dark.
why don't you include a description of you're setup and all other details.

well my lighting is just a 15w t8 over a 10g tank..
i do have plants in my tank for them to hide but only a few hide the rest juss hang out.. here is a picture

Looks very nice. but i would say they definitly need more plants and hiding spots, You need to cut off lines of sight . I know this seems overboard but what is the reading of the tank water, this can definitly be a factor

I would add many more plants as well. Fill 'er up!
How many DP's do you have in there?

Yeah, like they said....get more plants. If you fill it up, they'll be exploring all day long!

Yea, especially with DP's, they like some good hiding spots. And even if you don't want more plants, and wanna let those, what look like, young plants grow bigger, get maybe some couple of <<Um, no. Edited by LL>> tank ornaments until those plants grow. Just get something that they can wander around and can actually weave throughout. The little guys will be very grateful! However, even if you do wanna let those plants grow, I'd go buy a couple more at least.
But like I said, maybe a tree root or something, something they can be active around.

The ammonia should be 0 at all times.

Haha, I use tests that read lower!
I just get freaked when I see any numbers beside ammonia except 0.
