well i thought i was having a bad day, sick as a dog, and get up to turn on the tank lights, and find my porc stuck to a powerhead, i turn the powerhead off and she has a huge bruised/ damaged area behind her fin. ive lost two porc to stuff like this, so im watching her closely, the thing that amazes me is that the powerhead is hidden behind a wall of rock, that she couldnt get into at all i watched her try over and ovevr. somehow not only did she get in but she got hurt.
im hoping she will pull through, it seems like a skin outer layer issue rather than internal, she swims as well as can be, is alert and tracking me, and i will be feeding her tongiht to check on appetite.
if i lose her im probably going to go porcless for a bit, itll be too rough.

I'm sorry, I hope she's okay.
It's so easy to get attached to them. Porcs are so much like little water puppies.
Hang in there!

Sorry to hear that. J, why not put one of those prefilters on the PH? If its a AC they have those prefilter canisters.

these are the powersweep powerheads, and they come with prefilter blocks, which gunk up way to fast to be a smart thign to add, im gonna add pvc pipe to them and drill holes to lessen the pull of the inlets, so far shes holdign up, looks like a mess on one side, but is swimming and breathing normally, clear eyes etc.

I think you could attatch AC prefilters without the prefilter media. Easier?

How is your little guy doing? I had a dogface puff get stuck to a powerhead as well back in feb of this year. He still has a scar on his tummy, but he is fat and happy now, he looked really bad there for a long time, for 2 months, the first month it looked like his skin was falling off in sheets like when you get a sunburn. then there is white fluffy fatty skin under that, that eventually turned to a lighter shade of his normal skin color, mine actually had a small hole in the middle of his stomach when he would breath you could see his insides move around. You can look up the nightmare that I went through with him. Might want to try what I did. My guy pulled though. I pray that yours does also, they are so sweet looking making puppy dog eyes at you.

she is recovering fine, still has very white spines in that area as the outer skin was pulled off, but shes eating fine and quite happy. she took a week to get rolling again, and only stopped eating for a 2 day period.

That is great, I think mine stopped eating for like 2 weeks, I was on pins and needles. Just watch out for secondary infection.
