ok so he likes his meat too, but my Stars and Stripes LOVES to sit and graze on chaetomorpha all day long. He has eaten two baseball sized clumps almost fully in about a week.

When he poops it's bit of shrimp, clump of chaetomorpha, bit of shrimp, clump of chaetomorpha.

It's like he uses it as roughage to clean his system? Is this possible?

Anyone else have a puffer that eats chaetomorpha like it's cotton candy? I can hear it every time he takes a bite CRUNCH...lol, what a crazy fish! I love him!

Almost all of my puffer eat macroalgae, seaweed and nori.

Mine too.

I've learned that the hard way with my nice macros... Try sinking some nori, puffs love it!

Puffer Queen, ever had problems with the puff biting the clip? Had larger puffs do that often at work... Now they are all hand fed or the seaweed is weighted by a chunk of coral.

Only the smaller puffers are "allowed" the clips. The larger ones (6 - 24") eat the clips in seconds.....so the sheets are simply dropped into the tank & eaten instantly.

I've found that the larger species will rasp at dead coral if you wrap it with the seaweed... New puffer dentistry?

hehe, a guy at imac told me that that is how he does puffer dentistry, but for FW puffs he recomeneded smearing wet food on the dead coral, and then let it dry on. plunk in the tank and let him rasp away.

Seriously? IME I've never had to trim FW puffs beaks other then a SAP which a friend did for me... Still need to buy a set of bone cutters to do it on my own.

you can also take a clamshell or mussell shell and pack shrimp or whatever substance you want but I usually just buy more clams/mussells at the local fresh market....

only had one puffer that was an algae lover but that not so little S&S looked like an aquatic jabba the hutt....

peas seem to be a universal favorite though...

Really? My puffs don't like peas...I think they are spoiled.

Mine just want food, they don't care what it is now... pigs....
