GSP and cichlids

are there ANY cichlids GSP can tank with? any at all???

Hey Ash!
I would'nt have thought so, because of the salinity the GSP requires. Maybe possibly Chromides with young GSPs in a large tank? They had malawi mbuna on that link, and I know ideally they have cichlid salt and that but they're not brackish and that's the wrong kind of salt for brackish water. So I would say no cichlids

Yes, Orange/Green Chromides would probably work out pretty good with a GSP. Although they will NOT be able to handle marine conditons, but they can handle up to 1.018 SG.

Personally I wouldn't house a GSP with any other fish. Too much risk.

Yea, but it is a case by case basis. You have to start tankmates with young GSPs, that way they can get used to each other. Also, some GSPs are just plain meaner than others!

My 2 GSP's are getting a Canthigaster Solandri tank mate in a few weeks. He's still in QT right now.

GSPs get more aggressive when they mature, so starting them as tankmates early on can be deceptive.

hey thanks guys, WWF had someone asking and right off the bat i said no but i dont know ANYTHING about cichlids so i thought i would ask.
the chromides need marine salt???

ALL brackish species need marine salt.

As you said perek, the attitudes/aggression of puffs or on a "case to case basis." So just because you house fish with the puffs when the puffs are young doesn't mean they can have a change of heart.
IMO I wouln't keep a GSP with any other fish UNLESS it was already in full salt with a tank large enough to fit plenty of LR and the fish added had places to hide that the GSPs could not get to.
