I finally got some marimo balls, however I'm wondering just how well they actually do in brackish tanks, and up to what salinity?

I think there is a post on this already somewhere. But till I find it...

MMB IME do best in FW tanks. BW tanks will sometimes cause the balls to disentigrate to little patches of marimo moss.

Hi, I got 2 big Huges balls in my brackish tank with 1.15SG and it's already in there for long time.. I think around 6months.. getting greener and happy in there.. the 2 balls kind of a little larger then a tennis ball right now. My GSP love to sleep underneath or next to it... sometime, they just push it around

I put two in my tank, so far they look good (actually better then the two I put in my FW tanks). Will keep a close eye on them and report back in a couple weeks :)

I think it should be fine there.. there is originally only 1 in my BW tank....then I took the one from my Sister FW tank which it turn a little yellow/brown and after few month in the BW, it's green like emerald..

I bought mine around $10 CND each.. I bought 1 then steal other one from my Sister..lol Actually $8 is consider low price already, used to be very very expensive as they are rare but not any more.. I see more and more on different store now.. the most expensive one I found out is my Big Al's ..they sell it for like $25 CND for smaller then a golfball

Oh yeah.. just wait until your get a little bigger and greener.. you can make many Morimo out of 1.. you can tear few more pieces of the big one.. make sure it's a solid small pieces not like a cotton piece..then put it somewhere where there some flow in the water..the small one will grow bigger as time go by..the reason need to put near flow area so the movement of the water can make it roughly into ball shape..

Oh yeah, can read some about Marimo Ball at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marimo

Oh, you can see how this person make the Marimo into few baby balls and grow from there
