While changing the water one of my GSPs jumped out and puffed up with air. I know this is deadly to them. What should I do.

Put him in water and let him spit it out. If that doesnt work refer to the burping info.

My GSPs always swallowed air when I transfer them, and they just spit it back out.

Just like perek said, watch him close and burp if you have to. Don't worry too much, I had a F8 get some air in her when she puffed (she floated when I tried to put her back in the water!) and she's still swimming and eating!

Does anyone know where the burping info is? I thought it was a sticky but don't see it.

No I don't use a net if ever I have to transfer them I use a small cup so they never leave the water. This one just jumped straight out of the tank and on to the floor. I've been changing the water once a week since I got them about 4 month ago and never had any problems. I guess it got spooked this time but if I didn't see it with my own to eyes I wouldn't have believed it could jump that high.

Seems to be okay, no longer puffed and it ate tonight when I fed them. I'll keep a close eye on it but will have to take precautions next week when I do my water change.

Keeping an eye on him ATM would be the only precaution to take.

I always net my GSPs but I am very quick with the net. My gsps always spit out the air no problem.

OFFTOPIC: Tisho, how big is your butterfly goby?

3 Inches. Wouldn't keep it with a GSP though. My GSPs like to nibble on any 'non' puffer thing in the tank. Would hate to find a GSP with a butterfly's thorn in its face.

I have tried a guppie, dragon gobie, and chinese algae eater, my GSPs havent messed with any of these.

The only thing they killed was a guppy fry. I think the tank is pretty safe for tankmates. In fact my dragon gobie scares the living daylights out of my gsps.

First of all guppies arn't brackish yet marine... So why do you have any of them in there? Aswell as chinese algea eaters. Neither of those species should be kept with a GSP let alone in a brackish/marine tank. How big is your aquarium anyways?

Well I should make this more clear, these are all fish that I have come to own over a period of time. My GSPs were bought in FRESHWATER, to which I added a Chinese algae eater. I then removed him when adding salt. I added the guppie fry and guppie to cull them (lefterover feeder guppies from my Exodon). I added the dragon gobie recently as an experiment. Guppies can take low end brackish conditions just fine I have read.

Low brackish, yes. Not the brackish/marine GSPs need.
