So I'm on day two after moving my arrowhead from a 29g to a 55g. The 55g is divided with 5 DPs in one third, and the rest for the arrowhead.

Anyways, this morning in the arrowhead section, I found there was a pit at the back of the tank which was full of eggs. The eggs are about 2mm in diameter and I'm assuming can only be from the arrowhead. The only other livestock in the tank is ghost shrimp and snails. There was actually a ghost shrimp having a feast since the arrowhead now is occupying a different part of the tank.

Obviously the eggs are not fertile but now I know I have a female. So what should I do with them? Remove them? Let the ghost shrimp polish them off? I actually a bit puzzled here because I've had the arrowhead for almost six months and have never noticed anything like this.

You just need to find her a mate now! I would just leave the eggs in the tank and let the shrimp go for them. Probably the move sparked her into laying eggs. I know some species (plecs and corries) lay eggs due to the change of barimetric pressure and water temperature decrease during the rainy seasons... Maybe the tank had different water conditions which caused her to lay.

You know what, there might be something to that. I kept both the old and new tanks at the same parameters with pH, KH, GH and fert dosing but the heater in the new tank quit on me. The temperature had dropped to 73 degrees before I noticed and got a new heater and slowly got the tank back to 79 degrees.

I bet thats what did it. The water temperature drop is more or less 90% of what could have caused it. Just need to find a male!

Only put them together for spawning though. The split tank might be perfect. Then they could see each other & flirt.
