Well I just moved my GSPs into their new 55G home and I have noticed that one of my puffers appears to have Bacterial Fin Rot on his top fin :(

What action should I take?

Ammonia 0ppm

this tank is 1 day old, all other params should be fine. The finrot likely started in the old tank and I hadnt noticed it till now.

How did you cycle the new tank? Did you use the old filter medium (like sponges, biomax, etc)?

Took the HOB from my old tank and stuck it on the back of my new tank, and added a second filter medium.

Whats the difference between primafix / malafix? I know that malafix is teatree oil and primafix is something else. However they both seem to treat the same things. Is malafix good for treating Velvet? My mono has some on his nose but it seems to be going away. All i have used is malafix!

perek, DO you have a smaller quarantine tank? If so you would not have to use as much melafix (or antibiotics if it is really bad). You will still have to buy one bottle of the stuff...

you could try doing melafix dips as well rather than treating the whole tank. maybe an hour in a smaller container at double dosage per gallon.

what SG are they at? you could try increasing this as well.
