I'm so excited! I'm going to pick out and up my new dwarf puffers tomorrow, once the cloudiness in the tank clears up I'll have to post photos, I'm pretty happy with how the tank turned out. I made a 3D rock background out of the large pebbles you get in the gravel section and a big rock structure for the middle. Its full of silk/plastic plants right now but I hope to upgrade the lighting and get real plants in the future.

So, you are getting them today... oh the suspense! I can't wait to see pics of your new additions!

im thinking of getting a DP too. i want to move my snails from my snail spawning 6g to a 10g tank, and put a DP in the 6g.

I'll try to get some photos later, the water in the 35g is still a bit cloudy (darnit!) and they shy away when I get out the camera. I ended up with 6 of them, not sure on the sexes yet so my fingers are crossed I have more females then males.

Any tips on getting them on live blackworms? The store was feeding them flake apparently There are some pond snails in there and they are extremely interested in them (I think one may have already met an untimely death) but when I put in some black worms they didn't even notice (however my betta is in heaven as are my new peacock gudgeons... 2 different tanks)

Try to ease them off flake by cutting back on the flake rations and in a sense starve them a little and then they will take the blackworms and then realize what real food for them is.

I feed my DPs their blackworms with a small turkey baster. I suck up a few of the worms from the container into the baster, and fire them into the tank.

I've tried using large spoons in the past, and I can tell you for sure it never worked anywhere near as well as the baster.

Get a worm basket. It will help keep them out of the substrate and keeps them wiggling in the fish's face.

I used a little eyedropper type thing to drop them in the tank this morning (I plan to get a worm cone this weekend) and they caught on quickly... they were chasing them around and slurping them down. I think my daughter (2yrs old) loves them even mroe then I do... I keep calling them baby fish so now she's running around to the other tanks asking "mama? dada?" I think she thinks our GSP is their daddy LOL

OMG that is soooo cute! How adorable! It must be wonderful to have someone into your fish as much as you. I do have to say though that my husband seems to be growing quite attached to my ID shark despite his best efforts....

I am glad she likes the tanks, my husband puts up with me (we went from one little betta tank to a 50g GSP tank in our living room, a 29g community in his office, a 35g dwarf puff in the kitchen, 5g cherry shrimp in our bedroom, and 5g snail breeder in the basement in less then 3 months LOL) He doesn't mind them but doesn't love them, actually he thinks I'm insane, I stand by the fact that they help my sanity... I can sort of lose myself while watching them and its cheaper then therapy

Although he does enjoy watching Wasabi our GSP, he was playing with him this past weekend like he was a cat, he would dangle a string outside the tank and Wasabi would chase it around.

winning people over who think fish are "boring and dumb" is my favorite thing. my ex-boyfriend still has a 12gal eclipse i set up for him with rasboras and otos in it, i got four or five girls in my office keeping bettas, and my boyfriend, my roommate and her boyfriend are all getting really interested in the tanks i have crammed into our apartment.

Why use either? Just grab them with your hands and put them into the tank. Or better into a cone worm feeder to prevent them from living in your gravel.

It's hard to grab just enough without squishing them. I'm not at all worried about them living in the gravel either- either the DPs or Kulhi Loaches will find them.

Never had a problem squishing them. I don't grab them that hard. And yeah I think the kulhi's appreciate it.
