WTB: Amazon Puffers (Off-Season Challenge!) - Strategies & Sources?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to purchase 3+ Amazon Puffers (Colomesus asellus) and I know I've picked possibly the worst time of year to do this - right in the middle of the off-season when collections are at their lowest.

My situation:
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Willing to: Drive regionally, pay for shipping, or arrange pickup
Tank: 55-gallon setup ready and cycled
Experience: Not new to fishkeeping, but this will be my first puffer group.

I'm aware these are wild-caught seasonal imports and that availability from January-March is extremely limited. I've called around to local specialty shops with no luck so far.

My questions for the community:
- Where have you had success finding Amazon puffers during the off-season? Any specific online retailers or importers that maintain stock year-round?
- What strategies have worked for you? Pre-orders? Waitlists at local stores? Direct import services?
- Should I just wait until June? I'm prepared to be patient if that means healthier fish and better selection, but thought I'd explore options first.

I understand these might be thin on the ground right now, but any leads, advice, or tips from experienced SAP keepers would be greatly appreciated. I've done my homework on care requirements and have a snail breeding colony already going!
Thanks in advance for any help!

Many puffer species are seasonal. Might I recommend Spotted Congos instead? Much easier to keep (no dentistry issues like the SAP) & more personable. I have a connection for those.
