is my spotted congo puffer obese?

Post by snowballs99 »

Hi guys, I've had my spotted congo puffer (female) for about 6-9 months now. She is around 3-4 inches.

I can't tell if she's just really obese or has eggs as there is another male puffer in the same aquarium as her.

I have placed her in a 20 gallon tote for a month with little to no feedings to try and slim her down.
But the second she goes back into her 40 gallon breeder and starts eating snails and frozen foods again she just balloons right back up.

I do not think she's necessarily congested as her behavior is still very active except of course right after a huge meal in which she will go hide somewhere and food coma nap.

Although I cannot see your photos (load them to a photo platform like ImageShack), it very well may be pregnant with eggs as this species is often bred in captivity.
