Plant question

I've got a mudskipper in a 20 gallon right now, however this weekend I'll be setting up a 55 for him and getting some mates. I've also been contemplating trying an archer in with them. What I want to know is are there any plants that I could place in the sand that would be out of the water?
I know not a lot of aquatic plants are able to go brackish, but I was wondering about how the rooting and things like that would come into play.

If you can find mangrove that would be the best bet. It grows out of the water and withstands brackish to marine water conditions.

When I try the mangrove, should I plant IN the water and it will grow out?

Nevermind, sorry. Did some research and found out how to plant them.

Heh. Some people like to put them in terracotta pots with pond plant soil. It does help for the first foot or so of their growth, but pond plant soil can be a mess aswell.

I think if he actually wrote in coherent sentences, we'd understand he is speaking of mangrove seeds.
