Hi all,
I recently purchased a school of pea puffers and one of them had a red lump near the throat.
I asked the aquarium I bought it from and they claimed that it was normal and it’s from feeding too much bloodworms.
Can someone please validate or tell me how to treat this issue.

Re: Help - Pea puffer has red lump
I have been seeing this on a lot of these specific puffers, icluding several of mine. I have done what's lots of research, ask lots of questions. No one seems to know what's causing it or how to treat it.

Thanks for the reply.
That is so interesting, with your research do you have any concerns regarding its wellbeing? Do I need to close eye on it?
I’ve avoided feeding them bloodworms cause of this issue thinking it will go down but this has not been the case

Re: Help - Pea puffer has red lump
Eventually, all mine that had it did die. I do feed blood worms along with the variety of other foods. I am going to check now to see if there are any updates on this condition.

As in they die early? Or they live out at least a couple of years.
Not sure if I should go back to my seller and ask for an exchange for this one.
Any updates with your ones with the condition?

Nobody seems to know what is causing this. Inbreeding? Capture conditions? Who knows…
Mine turned bright red, got larger and larger and eventually I found the fish dead. Happened with several.
