Hi guys.
I have a just turned 4 year old Fahaka puffer who seems to have injured ? His mouth. He has a lump on the inside right up front I believe infront of where his teeth come out from on top, on one side.
I fed him his large Mystery Snail, a few days ago. Its just about all his picky butt will eat now without shredding and spitting out everywhere. But this time he roughed it up and left it. Weird. The next day it was still there and ended up dying.
I then noticed he had this weird lump in his mouth. Now he is not wanting to really eat. It seems as if it is difficult or possibly sore to do so. He gets massivore pellets occasionally as treats (he loves them) and right now its the only thing he will eat. Which I dont like. But I can see it is awkward for his teeth and he struggles to chew. It has been 2 days and I am just worried about him. Not sure if there is anything I should be doing about it.
He is in a 125g tank, alone accept for live plants. I did his cleaning 7 days ago. His water #s are 80f, PH 7.2, Nitrate O, Amm 0, Nitrates 10-20 ( its like the same color but it is pretty normal for my planted tank)
I am nervous to medicate since he is scaleless and I have not medicated him before. The snail had broken shell spots and all I can think is maybe he had a freak accident while eating and punctured his mouth and it has swollen up for some reason.
I just worry. Any ideas? Should I wait and see? How long can they go without eating? He is kinda porky.

Did you post about this on FB? I thought I saw a post like this lately in one of the puffer groups. There was a pic there.

I did, but I got a lot of talk about it being missing teeth which, i have seen all 4 of his teeth when he has eating a little and they are all in tact. Just broadening my search for information. I couldn’t post a pic here
