Just thought I'd say hi to everyone!
My daughter and I purchased "Bean" the GSP recently and he seems to be settling in to his very own 180l tank well.
He's currently undergoing worm treatment as a precaution, but has been eating well. We have bloodworms, mussels and cockles for him. We also have another tank in which we are breeding cherry shrimp, pond snails and Ramshorn snails. Any advice on what else we can try him on is welcome!
I'm going to start adding salt to his aquarium on Friday. We would have had him for a week then after buying him from a freshwater dealer. I will look to add 0.002SG every two weeks, until I have it up to the required 0.008SG. Any advice on this is also welcome
He has some greying around his belly that completely disappeared yesterday, but has returned today. I shall monitor him over the next two weeks as I'm aware this may be him just settling in?
Thanks all for taking the time to read this!
Chris.

Re: My first GSP
Just so you know, freshwater is 1.000, so your really looking to get it to 1.008? GSPs prefer high-end brackish (1.015) to saltwater (1.024), so this should be your eventual goal.
How was the tank cycled?

Re: My first GSP
Hi Pufferpunk! Sorry, I meant that I was aiming to get up to 0.008SG gradually. I didn't want to do it in one hit. He's still a juvenile so will increase it over time
The tank was cycled without fish, using only fish food over a period of four weeks. All readings are as they're supposed to be.

I’m an idiot! That was a typo, not once but twice!
Yes… 1.008. Thank you for the correction.
