Fahaka feeding requirements

I have a very young fahaka puffer, about two months old and 2 inches long. He or she came to me when he or she was about half an inch. He’s been eating a mix of seafood but currently start eating pellets. Is there any detriment to feeding him or her mainly pellets. I know that teeth need to be ground down by hard shells. Other than the potential teeth/beak issue, are there any other health concerns for having pallets of staples?

I'm always shocked when folks get their fahaka to eat pellets. Mine refused them. I do suggest a varied diet though.

Thanks. I plan on still giving seafood but when I’m away, it will be easier to feed pellets. She didn’t like pelleted food until the swordtail started eating them and I think it triggered a feeding response. She used to try but spit out. Now she just eats anything that goes in the tank. She loves crayfish that I bred for her.

How long will you be away? Most fish are fine without eating for a week.

I’m away for about 10 days. We have someone to visit the cat and can feed Alice (puff) every other day. I don’t feed too much when I’m away and the swordtails are there If she gets desperately hungry.

PP. do u think it will be detrimental if the first ingredient of the pellet is Antarctic krill? No sure if krill is still causing lockjaw?!

Quick question. Alice is doing well growing at about 6 inches or slightly smaller. She continues to eat pellets/disc as her main diet. She also gets snails and crays occasionally. I have a mystery snail breeding tank set up.
Anyways, is there any pellets/disc bigger than 10 mm? She is eating northfin carnivore discs and most of the time she bites it and it’s actually quite loud. But sometimes she will get a smaller one and just swallows it. She likes the tiny 2 mm omega and nls bug pellets as well. Just seeing if there are bigger size so when she is bigger I can transition over. Thanks.

I sent you links to read, early in this thread.
It is Thiamine that causes lockjaw.

Thanks. I read about thiamine. My latest post was asking about pellets bigger than 10 mm. Are there any?
