I have been lurking for 5+ years on these forums/pufferpedia/pufferfishenthusiastsworldwide, and finally think its time to get one myself! I have been keeping fish for ~6 yrs, and have a heavily planted 10 gallon right now with some Nandus nebulosus (look it up they're super cool) and some very small catfish. I always wanted a DP but now see that they are better understood and require solid numbers to thrive. I have a 10-gallon size restraint on any aquarium I keep due to where I live, and unfortunately this seems to mean no puffers for me for now. I was hoping I could get some insight on if that is feasible in any way? And if not, hi! happy to be here and learn while I wait

You could keep any of the single Carinotetraodon species, other than the Dwarf puffer.

Oh awesome! I wanted to ask to be sure, don't want to cram a lil guy into something too small. I saw that MTS can be a problem for some puffers, and shouldn't be fed for fear of damaging their teeth, so I'm assuming this includes these guys. I read through the caresheet a couple times, and have a few questions- are things like frozen mysis/live ghost shrimp/blackworms good foods to mix in the rotation? Also, is repashy more likely to be eaten than pellets or is it in that same category in terms of their likely interest?

Frozen foods are fine--I defrost them in water with a few drops of Vitachem. I doubt they'd eat Rephashy but you could try the meaty menu.

I was reading around and saw that redeyes of any kind are pretty hard to find right now- do you have any specific suggestions to find them besides watching wetspot/aquabid and asking my lfs?

You are correct. I think Aquabid might be your best bet although WetPets usually have a good variety of puffers.

I looked up wet pets and found a bunch of results, but none seem to have stock on their website- do you have the link for it if they do have a webpage?

No, I was just saying they usually have a good stock of more rare puffer species.

I just found 3 pea puffers being kept in a 10 gallon on craigslist- should I pick them up and take them in or no since I cannot add to their shoal as they would really like. I only ask because I worry about someone taking them who does not know how to care for them

Sure, if you plan on upgrading. How much?

They are giving them away, but I could not upgrade for at least a year (will be moving) so I am unsure if that is a good plan in the short term
