Hello Pufflers!

How active are your Fahakas, how much do they swim? Some source says that they are quite active but others regarding them just laying on the bottom. Are they active like fig8s or more like arrowheads, who seems to move only when they see food ?

I am hopefully getting one T. lineatus very soon my self and I am really looking for our first sight Will it be love on fist kiss?

im not really sure how active they are, i have never kept one, but i assume they are a little im between the F8 and the lurkers. yep, they sometimes bursy in the sand too.

How big is your tank for your fahaka.

Mine were as variable as puffers generally are - two were quite active, one much less so. The active ones were not at SAP levels of hyperactivity, but comparable to F-8s and GSPs, and the quiet one was far more active than the lurkers. Even if resting on the substrate, all would come out and swim to the front glass whenever anyone was present - hoping for food no doubt.

Mine did not bury themselves after they were past early juvenile sizes. but at least one member here has a sizeable one which buries itself as an adult. I believ there is a photo of that here somehere

I will see the fish tomorrow, then I will know more about its activity and how lively it is.

My next question is, how much does it's behavior differ from Mbu? Dr. K. Ebert refers Mbus' of use all parts of the aquarium and lineatus only the lower and bottom parts.

Mine is still fairly active for his size.More so at night and first thing in the morning.At 14" he has started to bury himself again which previously he only did when he was younger.

My fahaka is always swimming around. Unless he is sleeping, When the lights are on hes moving.

My Fahaka does a little of everything. he'll sit in his cave for a couple of days and then be out swimming around constantly for a few days. He's in a heavily planted tank and I think he enjoys being able to sim in and out of the plants. Right now his favorite 'roosting' spot is either on top of a large sword or beneath its leaves. He normally stays in the bottom half of the tank - rarely going to the top.

My new Fahaka happily arrived yesterday. This new comer seems to be - not too active - but swims around getting to know the tank better. This Coral Butterfly is now around 15cm, tale fin included.

Hoping to get soon some pictures for you to see.

Thats what happened to my fahaka. It didn't move around for the first couple of days.

mine likes to chill out in his caves alot, he really seems to become active when the lights are out- the opposite of what alot of other people seem to say.

i wish...i had a tank...big enough for a fahaka...

yet another reason why i need a job!
