This is a funny story, I went to a fish store to buy a pea puffer, after I had set up a tank for it. After leaving the store and getting into car and driving home, I realized I had purchased a figure 8 puffer, the store did not accept returns, therefore I had to keep it.(lucky for me I fell in love instantly)


Back on topic, I need advice on tank setup and care for the puffer.

Let's start with, how did you cycle this tank?

I set up sand as the substrate, then added plants(Anubis) and rocks. I also ran a filter and heater. The tank cycled for multiple weeks until the water perimeters were perfect(for a pea puffer). The Ph was around 8 and ammonia/nitrates/nitrites were at 0. I already got a new brackish tank and have started to set it up. The f8 is currently in the tank from before and is looking fine, though I want to get it out of there as soon as possible.

Unfortunately your tank is not cycled, this is why all your parameters are 0. A cycled tank will show nitrate. Anubis won't fare well in BW.

sorry, I got my nitrates at nitrite test results mixed up, I have a nitrate of 5.0 exactly. also the puffer seems healthy and is inspecting the tank(hovering over rocks)
