Mufassa

Well I dont have any idea what happened.
I did a water test last night:
Ammo 0
Nit .5 or less
Nitrate 2.5
ph 8.5
alk 1.7-2.8 normal
SG 1.024
I fed Mufassa dinner last night and he ate good. We played through the glass and he spit for me for a bit. I went to bed. When I got up this morning Mufassa was a purple color, lips looked swollen, eyes were glazed over.
Breathing normal, but he was laying on the substrate and not in his tree he likes. All the other fish (2 of them) are fine. I checked Mufassa to see if Scar maybe got ahold of him and no injuries . But Mufassa is gone. I dont know what happened.
Scar is got spots on him that arnt Ich looking at all hes laying low too. The Lawn mower blenny is fine hes just chomping away in the tank.
Any ideas? I have other posts about Pods that were on the fish. Could that do it? I'm at a loss and feel so horrible!!! No pesticides,or cleaners near the tank so that rules that out.
Thanks for all your help with Mufassa I sure will miss him.

Sorry to hear that.
Whatever those spots are probably has something to do with it. Maybe try a fresh water dip to knock them off.

I'm so sorry to hear that.
A FW will help in the interim to decrease parasite load in the gills, but if it is on the fish, it is in the water, and will reappear. FW dip is a good idea at this point, to reduce the current infestation.

Why are you showing Nitrite on your test? It should be zero. Sorry to hear about your loss. I know how much they can mean to you.

As I learnt recently, some tests don't show zero, but as a minimal level or less.

My test shows minimal or less not zero strange thing.
But thats not the worst!
I got up this Morning and Scar was gone too! I looked at him and he has WHITE HAIR on him its all over !!!! Any one know what that is? I looked over Mufassa and Scar there are no Ich spots there bodys look in good shape. But they have white hair!
Im really freaked out they were so healthy and happy water is good what happened?!
What do I do to my tank now? Im not even sure I want to get another fish but if i do decide to what should be done now?

how do I do a fW dip? will that kill whats going on in my tank and make me have to cycle again? Im sure I sound dumb but its the first time I have heard about a FW dip.

Personally, I think you should clean out that whole tank w/Oxyclean & start over. You can restart your bacteria w/Bio-Spira. Anything growing on your live rock?

Live rock has a feather duster guy on it and some small other things but not much at all

Someone correct me if I'm wrong or missing something, but a fresh water dip is where you tke your little guy and place them in fresh water for a short period of time. The drastic change in salinity should be harsh enough on the parasites for them to dislodge and/or die, and the fish should be strong enough to handle it for such a brief period.
It's useful for alleviating the parasite attack for a while so they can heal and start to hopefully fight back on their own.
It won't change what's in a tank, but it will help out the inhabitants a bit.
You can also do the reserve for fresh water fish by doing a salt water dip. Same principal. Brief drastic change in salinity.

I have brown algae and some of the green hair algae. but thats about it. Nothing in the tank looks like what was on my fish.

yep, although someone correct me if im wrong, you have to buffer the PH of the FWdip to the same level as that of your tank.
