Hi everyone, i have recently gotten a juvenile mbu puffer (5cm), but it doesn’t seem to be eating prawns/clams even when i cut them up into tiny pieces (bitesize) and try to feed it using a tweezer. May i know how to get it to eat?, as i really do not want it to only rely on bloodworms, i have also dewormed it for internal parasites.

You could try some garlic-flavor. I used seachem garlic guard with mixed success depending on the food.

My puffers never say no to live snails or earthworms, in case he won't accept frozen foods and gets too skinny.

I assume you know how big these guys get?

Yup, have done some research on them before getting them currently growing them out in a 130L tank, before shifting them to a 500L tank when they get older.

Them??? 500 liter? More like 1000 gallons (around 3500 liters)!

Yup, as they get larger i have bigger tanks along the way. No worries mate , just hope they can grow out

currently keep only 1 as they only have the juveniles i am not really confident as mine has not been eating much
had some luck with mini apply snails (+/-1cm, helping to crush it as it's not big enough yet),but hopefully can get it to eat different alternatives as well for other nutrients.

Yes i did, just tried getting him to eat small prawns, after cutting it up to bitesize

that was what i thought, but looking closer, the seem to be irregularities, would post a picture but the forum keeps saying my file is too big

No unfortunately it doesn’t, but his poop is black in colour and not really stringy. So i dont know what might be the cause, could be external parasites. But im really uncertain.

Sounds like no IPs then. What makes you think you has external parasites?
