New Guy with a Schoutedeni Puffer

Post by Niblet » Fri Apr 05, 2019 2:52 pm

Hello All
I have a 47 gallon Bowfront planted Aquarium with a 2.5" schoutedeni puffer.
Tank mates are a leopard stripe Pleco, a Female Bristlenose Pleco 6 silvertip tetras, and 6 ember tetras
Tank is fully cycled and is about 3 months old, everything everyone doing great, I just got an RO system
to help tweak my parameters, my PH was up near 7.5 or so,,
other than that life is good
He ONLY eats frozen Bloodworms and of course the ramshorn snails I put in there. I also feed him frozen krill which he will munch on but doesnt wolf it down like he like Bloodworms
Just wanted to say hi and want to explore the forum

[welcome]
Nice looking tank! I like the bubbles coming out of the stump.
I wouldn't worry about the pH, it's fine.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your puffer! Does it have a name? I really love my schoutedenis. They are so much fun and each have their own personalities. Beautiful tank!

Just from having had this same debate myself, I wouldn't add more than one more to a 47g for a total of two. I'd also add them at the same time or as close to it as possible to keep territories from being established and then infringed upon when the new "interloper" is introduced. I had a bad experience with introducing a second schoutedeni to my 55g after the first had been in there for about 7 months.
