I purchased a fahaka puffer several days ago. He is in his own tank that was previously cycled and waiting for him. He appears to have some minimal fungus of some sort starting to grow that I did not notice when we purchased him. I did a water change today, and added salt to the water. My question is, should I just continue the water changes and see how he does or should I go ahead and medicate before it gets worse? I’m always scared to medicate my fish because of possible repercussions, but I don’t want fungus killing him either. He is eating good and swimming around some, and then of course resting.

You might want to use an antifungal medication if it's getting worse. How exactly was the tank cycled?

We cycled it with some other various fish, and then moved them to other tanks. There is no visible illness in any fish in any of the other tanks, so I am thinking he came with the issue and I am just now beginning to see the problem

Also, when I medicate, do i just use half the dosage? I have never medicated a puffer before so I am leary.
