Hi all,

I have recently closed down a sps reef tank. I'm now looking at keeping puffers again.
In the past I have kept quite a few puffer species.

I'm really interested in Schoutedeni but I need some help.

I would really like to keep at least 2 in a 900CM long tank. As there appears to be little information about them I can't make my mind up if this is a good size?

I would love to keep them in a heavily planted aquascaped tank. I know they can nip or break up plants but I think it will be more natural for them. Now, the down side to this is the tank best suited to this is an open top. Can anyone tell me if they have ever jumped on you?

The biggest task of all will be locating some. They are very rare in the UK.

How many gallons is the tank? (900cm is 9.8 yards according to Google...)

I have 7 Schoutedeni in two planted tanks and love them. Their personalities are all so different, and they are all gorgeous. Several of them like to hang out at the very surface of the tank. I personally would advise against an open top, as it would be easy for them to jump out, and once a puffer has taken in air...you don't want to have to deal with that.

Sorry all, I got carried away with my keyboard. 90cm it's very close to 3 feet.

I have a dilemma, the tanks look so much better when they are open and easier to work on. I don't want to put the puffer at risk if they jump. I have kept other puffers before in a closed top and never whitnesses any jumping which is why I was considering it.

What about a co2 diffuser? I know people use them with pygmy puffers?
