Hi all!

A LFS have manged to obtain a cross river puffer.

There is limited information out there about them. From what I can see, they are very rare (possibly even more rare than the tetradon schoutenedi??), they look a bit similar to a fahaka but grow a bit smaller (around 30 cm) and are less aggressive (people seem to keep them with small fast moving fish).

Has anybody kept these? Does anybody have a link with more info?

DO ask to see a photo of the exact puffer they will be selling you. Most are not true pustulatus. What's the price? I've been looking for one for years.

Yes--so rare, they can charge anything they want. I've seen them anywhere from $700-1000 here in the US. Unfortunately, most of them are not true pustulatus, just fahakas with a few spots.

They are FAR rarer than the Tetraodon Schotedeni, and likely even rarer than the Tetraodon Duboisi. There used to be one in the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago (sadly it died) in a MASSIVE aquarium, and it only maxed out at a little over a foot. The main difference between the Tetraodon Lineatus and Tetraodon Pustulatus is that while the first is yellow/brown, the second retains vibrant green/red. IDK why that site would say "slightly brackish water". They are from the Nile river.
