help!

My dwarf puffer isn't feeling well. He is in a planted 5 gallon tank and i've had him for a few months now. I do regular water changes and he is all by himself. He didn't eat last night and now he isn't moving a lot. I saw him this morning sitting on a leaf and I thought he was dead, but noticed he was breathing, so immediately did a water change to try to help the little guy. He is doing this thing where it almost looks like he has the hiccups and will jolt a bit every few seconds. I'm very worried. He isn't paying attention to me when I sit outside the tank. Usually he gets very active and excited when I come around, probably cause he wants me to feed him, but now he is not interested. Please help!
