Hi
I am thinking of getting a new tank (180l) to house a bigger puffer.
The species that has caught my eye recently is the humpback - can these be kept in a pair/three or has the be solitary?
Thanks

Definitely solitary. There have been a handful of reports of keeping them with each other, but only in much larger tanks. If you'd rather keep multiple puffers in that size tank, I'd recommend either a group of 6 Colomesus Asellus or a pair of Tetraodon Schoutedeni.

I wouldn't do it in that size tank.
They look nice, but they are like owning a colorful rock even for a lurker. The only ones I would truly trust in a group would be the south americans. The spotted congo should be good but I haven't seen them together. I had a few modestus that did well but they could be nippy.
