Hello everyone! I'm new to the puffer world and have been researching dwarf puffers for my empty tank I've been cycling. I saw some puffers while I was out yesterday and almost brought one home but the guy INSISTED they were GSP not dwarf puffers. I'm no expert and since young GSP are known to be sold in fresh water conditions I didn't want to chance it. I figured I'd ask first with the picture I got. I know quality is bad but hopefully you can help me please!!

What a cutie. It’s a lady dwarf puffer/pea puffer: Carinotetraodon Travancoricus, one of the very few sexually dimorphic puffs (can tell the sex’s apart). Males have tell-tale wrinkles behind their eyes, they’re more iridescent lines that look like wrinkles- but the absence of the wrinkles in addition to the larger, round shape of the body, and the spots NOT connecting into a horizontal line makes “it” a “she”. She looks pretty healthy, make sure to treat for internal parasites by treating/soaking the food (medicating the water will only thwart external bugs)!
Congrats, she’s lovely! Any names in mind?

Thank you so much! She's been pretty active in the tank and loves her Anubis plants no names yet but I'm waiting for more personality to come through! Haven't seen her eat yet but hopefully I'll get to watch her in action soon!
