Preventative deworming for Dwarf Puffer

Hello :-)

I am planning on getting a single dwarf puffer to put in a 10 gallon tank. I am constantly seeing mixed information around the web as to how to do a preventative treatment on them for internal parasites.

I am going to order prazipro. Should i dose the water or soak food in it? I know how to dose the water, but if it's better to soak food in it, how do i actually do that? Do i get a few frozen bloodworms and let them thaw out in a tiny capful of prazipro (does it have to be a specific amount of food, prazipro, or a certain number of times a day?)? If for some reason the puffer doesn't like bloodworms and only snails, can i soak the snails in prazipro?

My main question: if it's better to soak the food, how long do i do that? 1 week straight? 3 weeks? once a day?

Thank you for any info you can provide!

Soaking the food in Prazi is fine but I'd wait for symptoms, 1st. If he shows signs, then all the food he eats for 3 days should be medicated.

Thanks for the reply. Is it not ideal to treat the water? Is it true that they can't get the medicine this way?

Since FW fish do not drink water, it is a waste of meds.

So these types of meds have to be ingested to get rid of IP's? and don't go through gills?
