Teeth Trimming

I've been keeping puffers for 3 months and can't believe I just found this site. Awesome stuff here so just wanted to spark a conversation. I got into puffers from a family friend who has owned an mbu for about 7 years and couldn't resist. I started with a f8 and now own 3 SAP's and I see there seems to be some debate about teeth trimming. I've realized over the months that at time their teeth look a little large and a couple of days later, smile is less noticable and teeth look trimmed. Between a healthy snail diet, shrimp and other foods, I just don't see a need to sedate such tiny fish  . Even the mbu puffer I've seen over the years has never had his teeth trimmed. Other then food in the wild, I've read some info that they may use rocks to trimm their teeth? Not sure how much i believe that though. Do you guys regularly trimm teeth or do you let it happen naturally?

I have found that once their teeth are excessively overgrown, it is too late to get them shorter with food. Maybe if they are only slightly overgrown. Otherwise, hand-trimming is necessary. Best prevention obviously, is a healthy, crunchy diet.
