New fahaka

Finally found a fahaka I couldn't resist. The store said they'd had him for 3 months, he was dewormed and eating. So how can I be sure he was dewormed? Do puffers have the telltale long stringy white poo if they have internal parasites? The store definitely had him for at least 2 months, he's about 3", shows no outward signs of parasites/diseases, and his poop is dark ovals. I don't want to medicate him if it's not necessary, but he is in quarantine for now.
