I recently purchased a green spotted puffer for which I thought was F8 eight puffer. It is very small less than the size of a pea. I was told it could live in a freshwater community tank but the fish were picking on him so I put him in a separate tank. I am concerned about the care for this tiny guy. I just introduced him to brackish water and he seems to be doing a lot better. Any advice would be great as I do not want to return him to the fish store.

That is not a GSP, it's a dwarf puffer & will die in BW. Also looks to be seriously infected with IPs.

Wow ! So much misinformation I was given this is aweful I need to get this little guy healthy before he dies

I did what I was told and added aquarium salt to his freshwater tank to treat ick . He had 2 small white spots yesterday and today they are gone .

Keep treating for ick though cause it can live for a while in your substrate.

You also need to raise the temp to 86 & do a thorough substrate cleaning while changing 80% of the water every other day.

I treated for internal parasites with Praziquantal but I think he was too far gone . Today I took his little body back to the store and she tested the water and said it was perfect . I told her about the forum here and she disregarded the possibility of internal parasites. They still have a tag of spotted green puffer and I told her that they need to change that as they are pea puffers. It's very frustrating trying to do the right thing and getting bad information . I will not make this mistake again Rest In Peace little Poof

sorry to hear that. I've given up on dps, have never had one live for more than a few months :/
