I wanted to know if anyone has kept a dragon goby in a brackish tank with puffers before?

I know any fish being introduced into a puffer tank is risky, but *so far* my 2 F8's have proven to be rather docile and I have plenty of hiding spaces in their tank. I saw a dragon goby recently at a LFS and its was about 5 inches long. My puffs are 2" and 3" long. Does anyone think it would be too risky to introduce this type of fish into a puff tank?

I read dragon gobies reach 14+ in captivity, and if I got one I'd provide a larger tank, but I need to know if this is even a good idea?

Mine was not picked on by my F8s but I believed it starved to death, being outcompeted by the puffers.

Where in the world did you find a puffertree?!

Doesn't everyone know puffers grow on trees? That must be why no one can figure out how to breed them.... I found the pic on a photoshop site http://www.worth1000.com.

Hmm, thanks for the info! I see how competing for food may pose some problems for a less aggressive fish... I think I'll hold off on the dragon goby thing for a while and do some more research on it.

Thing about dragon gobies are they are limited on hunting due to their poor vision. If you could feed them from your hand or a prong or something they have a better chance of getting the food.

Well, I haven't been told a Dragon was a bad idea, so I may just try it. I'll post pics if I do happen to get him.

Just make sure you have a few long caves for him/her to safely secure themself. To make it easier to view angle a long rock against the front of the glass.

I will be sure to do that. I read somewhere they like small tight hiding spots rather than a big gaping cave where they feel exposed. I think I'll find something that's just big enough for him to fit into but too thin for my puffs.

That shouldn't be hard, my puffs are massive

Well, I'm hoping mine will lose interest in him once he hides away in his caves We'll see, I'm crossing my fingers!

If he looks like he is getting picked on just feed the puffs. They will realize he is not food!

I bet he wouldn't taste as good as their usual goodies anyways

No I didn't think to do so since the name of the site is on the pic, but I guess it isn't legible so small. Not to mention I don't think anyone will care if it is being used for something as harmless as a forum, but I know what you're saying.

I guess I will take it off and make my own.

So is the dragon gobie in yet?
