The Puffer Forum

Never seen a golden puffer before so i jumped on it when i saw one at my lfs. He's about 3.5". I have him in a 75G running an AC110 and a 1300gph powerhead.
Temp is set at 80F and ph is at about 7.5. Should the ph be higher? He's sharing the tank with 5 neon tetras.

One of my favorites! Very active, personable & strange-looking. Not to worry about pH. How did you cycle the tank? Expect the neons to be food.

Tank was already cycled. Been keeping piranhas for the past 15 yrs so i decided to take a break from them and try something different. Kept F8s,lorteti and DP in the past so when i got rid of my piranhas i figured it would be a good time to get another puffer now that i have a free 75Gallon. He's been eating hikari food sticks at the pet store.
What other food should i give him?

My lfs was feeding him food sticks. How long for him to get comfy in his new home? He hasn't eaten anything. I dropped a snail in the tank,landed on his head and he didnt even look at it. Everytime i check up on him, he's sitting in the corner. I don't see any rapid gill movement,his colour seems fine. He paces back and forth and hits the glass every now and then. I did add some nutrafin "clear fast" just to clear up the water a bit since it's been hazy for a while and i have no idea why. Now it's crystal clear and the other fish in the tank are doing great. Need some "what's normal and what's not normal" with these guys.
