Human quality food?

I've been sort of thinking of getting one of the smallish, ambush-y pufferfish (miurus, suvattii, baileyi), and I've done a fair amount of research about requirements. However, one thing that came up in a few places was that, once you convince them to go off of live food (which is apparently generally a good idea?), they need "human-quality" fish. Is this true, and what precisely does this mean? Could I feed my puffer fish canned tuna? Or a frozen fish fillet?
The rest of feeding seemed pretty straightforward--occasional shrimp, bloodworms, etc. Am I missing something there?
