Is This Substrate OK?

Tain't fresh, and tain't marine! Talk about brackish setups.

Is This Substrate OK?

Post by Ianb262 »

Hello again,
I am buying all the equipment for my new tank and I really want white sand for the bottom.
I saw some white sand at petsmart for 23$ a bag (like 5lbs). WAY out of my price range.
So I found this white silica sand at menard's (50lb Bag) and I was wondering if it is okay for an aquarium.
Check it out if you want to: https://goo.gl/Uo96uH
I haven't bought it yet just in case it's bad for the fishies :P

Thanks again

~Ian

What fish? If for BW, I prefer aragonite sand. It buffers the water & keeps the pH steady, around 8.

I decided to get 2 F8's for my 55gal. I am wondering if the sand would still work fine though?

Aragonite sand is recommended.
