Have you seen the puffer eating the algae? What is the puffer eating? It might be that the algae is eaten as the puffer consumes other food i.e in snails stomachs.

Cheers for the replies. Hes does get pond snails, as well as pellets, shrimp, muscle, and crabs. however the algae in the pond doesnt looke the same as this. This looks like the long green hair algae that is in a couple of spots in his tank. Do you think hes just eating it when he targets his food as
by-catch?

Yes, if a piece of food/ snail is on it he will grab the lot.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen my f8 puffer actively "graze" on algae on rocks. It's not going to hurt him, think of it as some much needed fiber!

My largest GSP munches on marine algae all the time. No big deal.
